Mackenzie Crash Victim 59 Year Old Woman

Mackenzie, B.C.- Police have released the name of the person killed in a head on collision on highway 39 yesterday.
59 year old Marjorie Ankerstein of Mackenzie was driving a Jeep Cherokee SUV when it collided with a Commercial tractor/trailer unit on Highway #39. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
The driver of the Commercial tractor/trailer unit was examined and treated at the scene. He sustained no injuries in this incident.
The crash occurred at 3:20 pm on Tuesday November 16th, 2010. Investigators believe the Commercial tractor/trailer unit crossed the center line in a curve and collided with the Jeep in a head-on impact.
A Crash Team, comprised of police investigators from MacKenzie, Prince George and Williams Lake, has been assigned the investigation. They are in the process of evaluating the evidence collected at the scene and are interviewing anyone who have any information to provide in this matter.
The investigation continues with the collaboration of the BC Coroners Service, the Commercial Vehicle Safety personnel and the police. A number of investigative avenues are being examined, including an autopsy, mechanical examinations and interviews. The cause of this collision remains under investigation. Weather is not believed to have been a factor.
The investigators have advised they don’t have many witnesses coming forward. They are requesting that anyone who had any dealings with Marjorie Ankerstein or anyone who was involved in anyway with the driver of the commercial transport unit, prior to the collision, to contact the police investigators. The police are also asking anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
