The appplication to add a new three story apartment building to a site on Tabor Boulevard has been given 3rd reading.
Concerns raised on the application noted increases in traffic, accessibility for seniors, and worries about increaseded vandalism to neighbouring homes.
Councilor Don Basermann noted Tabor is designed to handle far more traffic than it currently carries. Councilor Murry Krause supported the re-zoning saying he was encouraged by developers making efforts to address matters of accessibility especially as the bulk of the population ages and demands better facilities.
The manager of the existing building on the site advised Council he doubted the building would attract a destructive type of tenant as it will be designed for seniors. The project engineer, speaking on behalf of the applicant, says there will be an elevator from the parking lot to the various floors, and all interior doorways will be 3 feet wide to accommodate wheelchairs.
Satisfied the concerns have been addressed, Council unanimously approved 3rd reading of the bylaw which would allow increased density.
