Surrey, B.C.- It's official, Kevin Falcon is in the race for the Liberal Leadership.  He delivered his  campaign platform this morning at a news conference in Surrey, and will  repeat that activity  this evening in Prince George. He tendered his resignation  as Minister of Health  last night.

Falcon's campaign is  "Listen, Learn, Lead".  He says he  has listened to the people of the province and  would like to see the HST  referendum  moved up to June 24th.  ( That was an idea  which came from George Abbott's camp) but  Falcon wants to take it one step  further in that he  is putting together a letter which he wants his fellow  MLA's to sign and send to the Premier  calling on Elections B.C. to move up the date for the vote.

He also promises that  if the referendum  says the  HST should be scrapped,  it will be scrapped.  But,   in an effort to ease the economic impact of scrapping  the tax altogether and paying back the Federal Government for its  advance to the Province, he would like to  see how people feel about slowly reducing the tax to  10%.   He says he would plan to have  lots of  debate on the merits and  pitfalls of the tax leading up to a referendum "I want to be clear, I believe the HST is sound tax policy for a more competitive economy and I don’t want to pass up the opportunity for a full, open and informed dialogue prior to the public exercising their mandate."

Backed by  nine MLAs, ( none from outside the  lower mainland) Falcon has launched a  website, and appears  to be taking full advantage of social media to  push his campaign.

He will be in  Prince George this evening to re-launch the campaign in the north.

Here comes the finessing of the voters!
Not hard to tell Falcon is part of the Campbell Liberal old guard.
The question is,will we buy into all the "we have learned and will do better" spin?
They have learned nothing, except to find a better way to scam B.C.voters.
The Liberals could survive, but not with these opportunists in charge!
No new blood,no vote.
The big question is,have WE learned anything?
HST,HST,did you hear this clown!!then why did he and others not vote against it?? cause Scambell the Bully.....nope,no chaonas!!
Exactly zyblxteu...none of them had the family jewels to stick up for their constituents at the time...and they still don't!
This is nothing more than a...in your face Liberal blitz...by the whole works of them.
Not going to work this time.
These leopards will never change their spots, they'll just hide them better.
I'd like to think we all got a little smarter over the last while.
Now the BS machine is in full gear, they had 3 terms too rite this crapola and what do you get in crackerjacks, candy coated popcorn ,peanuts and a prize.combine all 3 and still Libtards don't stand up..cu bye!!glub, glub!
Heard about this a little bit ago, and wondered where Falcon sat on the spectrum. From what I can tell he sits pretty far to right. Attention Liberal party, can we get a centre thinking, or maybe even slightly right of centre thinker for a leader? No more corporate boot
Iickers please!
What's intersting about this particular leadership race, is the way the old Campbell gang are spinning it.
They appear to be making it look like it was an election campain.
The voters have no say in who gets to be Liberal party leader.
None...but it seems they would like us to think that we do.
Can't imagine why that would be?
Obviously the 2013 election campain has begun...and on our tax dollars.
They get to still be government and campain at the same time.
Carole James can only hope someone from Campbell's inner circle becomes Premier. Having a guy like Falcon leading the lieberal charge next election is worth 10 points for Carole.
Who really cares if the HST referendum is June or Sept. Does it really matter since the HST is doomed for failure.
Once more the lieberals trying to use a non issue to gain support.
This is not a general election just the election of a person to lead the Lieberal party for the next 2 years before becoming leader of the opposition.
Andy:
I agree, old guard, inner circle. It will just be like old times for any of these characters if they become premier. The further away you are from the inner circle, the better chance of becoming the next premier. Having said that, we really need a change to even seats on both sides of the legislature, and unfortunately, if James remains leader, I can't see it happening.
It's got me a bit worried too,Slim!
And the silence from Carole James at a time like this isn't doing much to instill any confidence in anyone, not even her own party!

Carole James silence???

Holy doodle, you did not hear her at that labour convention down the coast?

I could hear her all the way up here even after I shut the TV and radio off.
