Tree atop the Coast Inn of the North  has become a symbol of the season.

Prince George, B.C. – It is a little over a week late, but, the tree that has become the symbol of Christmas in Prince George, is finally, up.
The tree came from the Aleza Lake  area, and  stands  on top of the roof of the Coast Inn of the North.

There are still about 10 feet of lights to string on the bottom branches, but the tree was hoisted to an upright position  on the roof of the Coast Inn of the North around 4:00 this afternoon.

The “Tree of Lights” is a symbol of generosity, as each light represents a $5.00 donation to the Salvation Army.

Traditionally, the tree is fully lit at the beginning of the fund raising campaign, then the lights are turned off and one by one re-lit  as donations are made.   Like a thermometer that registers climbing heat, the lights will show how far the campaign has come, and how far it has to go to reach its goal.

The placing of the tree was delayed because of wind storms which kept workers from stringing the lights on the roof of the Coast Inn of the North.

Meantime, over at the construction site of the Northern Cancer Centre,  the  members of  the crane crew  added their own  festive  feature to their work as the crane  has been strung  with  lights.

Nice to see the businesses getting into the Christmas spirit. Irronically, I notice many churches do not put out any christmas displays outside when they should be the best example.
How about a free plug for the companies that make this tree of lights happen every year?
