Cougars Host Saskatoon At CN Centre
By 250 News
Familiar faces square off Tuesday night in Prince George, with the BC Division leading Cougars hosting the East Division leading Saskatoon Blades for their only meeting of the 2010-11 season.
Tonight ends a four game home stand for the Cougars, who have gone 1-1-0-1 so far during the streak of home games, all in December. The Cougars are coming off back-to-back 5-4 losses at the hands of the Seattle Thunderbirds last Friday and Saturday, the latter going to a shoot-out. Prior to that, the Cougars had won four in a row. The Cougars will take a 15-11-2-1 record against the Blades, who are ending their BC trip, coming in with a mark of 21-7-0-1, tops in the Eastern Conference with 43 points, based on one more win than Red Deer, who are also at 43 points.
Two of the Cougars hottest players right now will be meeting their former mates, with Sena Acolatse and Charles Inglis both acquired by the Cougars this season from the Bridge City. Acolatse, who the Cougars received from Saskatoon for a third round pick in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft, is currently on a six game point streak, with two goals and seven assists over that time. Acolatse's 30 points is second only to teammate Martin Marincin's 31 for scoring among WHL defencemen. Inglis, who was picked up prior to the start of the season for a second round bantam pick in 2011, has goals in three of the last four games, five in total, and has seven points in the last five games.
The Blades, who are coming off a Saturday loss in Kelowna but have won three of the four games on their road trip, have some ex-Cougars returning to CN Centre. 20-year old Slovak forward Marek Viedensky makes his return to Prince George, after being acquired in a trade deadline deal last January. Viedensky played 90 games in a Cougars uniform, collecting 20 goals and 45 assists as a Cougar. This season, Viedensky has posted 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points in 23 games for the Blades. Also, defenceman Tyler Kizuik played one game for the Cougars in the 2007-08 season, before being dealt in 2009 to Saskatoon for a conditional 2011 Bantam Draft pick. Stefan Elliott, another Blades blue liner, was the 12th overall pick of the Cougars in the 2006 Bantam Draft, but was dealt to the Blades with a 2008 first round pick, in exchange for forward Devin Setoguchi.
Puck drop is 7:00pm at CN Centre. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 250-564-5585.
