Prince George, B.C. - The trial of Prince George City Councillor Brian Skakun will continue in the new year. The lawyers for Defence and Crown will return to court January 7th to fix a date to continue the trial. The Judge is recommending two more days of testimony, one to complete testimony and the second as a back up just in case the first day doesn’t cover it all.
Earlier in the day the  Defence brought forth two witnesses, both of whom had filed complaints against RCMP local detachment Superintendent Dahl Chambers, and against two City Managers.
In both cases they testified they met with Councillor Skakun because they  believed he could help them bring their concerns to City Council for further action.
Yet to testify, is Shari MacLean Smith, and the final witness will be Brian Skakun himself.

Run for Mayor Brian .We will vote for ya.
This is like a bad soap opera. City Hall should clean house. Alot of overpaid bad apples. The City should be ashamed of themselves. Waste of time and money. Go Brian go. Goodluck to you.
Yes, City Hall needs an independent investigation. The Skakun situation is a witch hunt devised by City Hall since Skakum questions the operations and expenditures of the bureaucracy of the City. He has disturbed their comfort zone. Where is the media in all of this. Have they run for cover rather than report the facts to the over taxed propery owners of Prince George? Hopefully, most of council will be gone, except for Skakun, during the election of November, 2011.
The only misstep of justice here is that the council and mayor wouldn't persue the case when they first heard of it because it involved the R.C.M.P.. But then don't the cops investigate the cops--I wonder why??
Isn't a conflict of interest to
let Munoz "testify" ?
What do you expect from an ex in
a testimony ?
Obvious which direction the whole
circus is leaning.
The only hope, the Judge may
see that the whole thing is
about to get rid of a city
councillor, who can not be bribed.
It is a worldwide problem to get
rid of the ones, who know about
corrupt ones, but will not join,
so they are in the way.
A sliver in their eye.
Ya give em hell Brian-- When does the next Mayoral vote take place?
Brian, do not give up. The City should be paying your court costs, this court case should not be going on at all.
Looks like another case of 'overspending' by the city huh? I wonder if the newspapers front page today meant anything to them?
Yes Honestjoe you said it best... "The Skakun situation is a witch hunt devised by City Hall".

I don't live in PG anymore but if I did I'd vote for Brian if he ran for mayor.

Mr. Skakun is a man who tells the truth and stands up for the citizens of PG.

We need more of his kind in city hall.

And to the administration of city hall (and you know who you are)... SHAME ON YOU... SHAME ON YOU!

There are continuous reports of how busy our courts are and the long wait for new cases. We costantly delete time from offenders who have spent time waiting and in some cases have even forgiven the crime due to "unreasonable" time awaiting trial. Now the city sees fit to spend obscene amounts of money, as well as time, on this little misdemeanor and the Judge just won't cancell the whole silly affair. They certainly know how to make our justice system appear important while they accomplish nothing. It is unacceptable for this city, with their overspending smeared across the papers of the nation, to spend even ten dollars on this court. Brian should have been chastised to the same degree that Chambers was but Chambers should be the one facing the judge.
Irregardless if Skakun is a truth teller, which I applaud, the fact of the matter is he broke the law. There are ways to be tell the truth without breaking laws.

Guilty as charged.
"the fact of the matter is he broke the law."

I could swear that the reason this trial is going on is to see whether he did or did not break the law.

I mean, if everyone agrees that he broke the law, can't we just get 100 people to sign off on that and fine him $2,000?
Skakun as Mayor! He needs to be booted out of City Hall. I would rather see Fetterly run again !
This poem is for Brian S. and any one that needs it or knows some one that needs it. DON'T QUIT.
When things go wrong as they sometimes will, when the road you're trudging seems all up hill. When the funds are low and the debts are high ,and you want to smile , but you have to sigh. When care is pressing you down a bit, rest if you must but don't you quit . Life is queer with its twists and turns , as everyone of us sometimes learns. And many a failure turns about when he might have won had he stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow, you may succeed with another blow. Success is failure turned inside out,the silver tint of the clouds of doubt. And you can never tell how close you are, it may be near when it seems so far, So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit, its when things seem worst that you must NOT QUIT.

Great!!!

I finally got my sister to the point where she is wearing a patch. After reading that, she called me up that she had removed it and has decided not quit smoking ...... :-(
Gus, you missed the point and maybe never needed this poem. Thanks for the laugh.
Here is another poem for you gus....

There once was a counsellor name Brian
A true mouse but thinks he is a lion.
He has fooled many a taxpayer,
Some fools even want him to run for Mayor.
Whether he runs out fast or walks out slow,
But from city hall he must surely go!
