On December 5th-2010 Opinion250 published the story “BC Forest Minister Does Not Shy Away from Criticism”
Following the story, a comment was posted by, “disturbing the peace” in which Dr. Briony Penn and her lecture at UNBC were criticized.
On December 15th-2010 we received an E-mail from representatives acting on behalf of Dr. Penn.
The moment that we were informed of the existence of the posting, Opinion250 immediately removed the offensive comment, and we wish to apologize to Dr. Briony Penn for allowing them to be posted.
The comment about the conduct of Dr Penn as posted by a commentator, "disturbing the peace ", was not only false and negligent but is untrue.
The comments in question were made by a UNBC student, that does not give them right to publish this kind of untruth, nor does it give Opinion250 leave to publish them.
Opinion250 sincerely apologizes to Dr. Penn.

Further to the above, which was posted at 7:07 p.m. the following apology was delivered to Opinion250 at 8:39 p.m.
Opinion250 and its Readers,
I sat through both Dr. Penn's lectures at UNBC this month. I disagreed with some of what she said. Afterward, in the heat of the moment, I posted criticisms of her and her lectures on local news and opinion forum Opinion250. Certainly, the personal criticisms were unnecessarily harsh -even for a public figure- and some comments could be misconstrued as
defamatory.
Although I stand behind my criticisms, my tone was uncivil and unconstructive. Opinion250 has belatedly decided to remove my post, and I believe this was the correct decision. I was merely 'turning-a-phrase' to express my frustration -I can emphatically state that I was not accusing Dr. Penn of any wrongdoing, nor was it my intent to damage her reputation.
My apologies to Dr. Penn. She will receive a personal letter of apology from me shortly.
Sincerely,
Rory Plunkett
