Fowlie Sentence Due Today

Prince George, B.C.-  It was one of the most brutal  sexual assaults  to have ever taken place in Prince George. 

In March of this year, a 62 year old woman who was driving home, was  forced  off the road by a white cube van, grabbed from her vehicle, savagely beaten and  sexually assaulted.

34 year old Joseph Robert Fowlie  pleaded guilty to Aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping.

At a sentencing hearing last week,  Crown requested  a sentence of 8 to 12 years while Defence  requested a sentence of  6 or seven years.

The courtroom gallery has been filled to capacity   for each of the  appearances in this case, and today  is not expected to be any different. 

The sentence  and  accompanying reasons,  are  expected to be handed down this afternoon by Provincial Court Judge Ron Tindale.
