"the brains behind the deJong campain"...hehehe...wow,some brains they are!
Especially after announcing support for the 16 year old vote yesterday!
The mysteries of just what motivates a poltician are impossible to define.
It is obviously that there is not a chance in hell deJong can win...and he has to know that.
Or does he?...and is that even the point?
So why give up your position of power in government,as did Falcon and Abbott also, and take a run at the leadership?
Are these people so completely delusional that they each believe they can win,or that the voters will suddenly see the light if they say the right things, and flock to them in support?
Or is there something here we are not seeing?
Is it an all out Liberal blitz to hang on to power?
Is there a plan to save the Liberals political fortunes that we don't know about yet?
Is it a set up?
Can't hardly wait until the candidates start badmouthing each other, which should begin soon enough.
If they remain polite and say nothing against the other guy running for the same job...we KNOW something is up!

I find it all the stranger when you consider that only Liberal Party members can vote, and the general public has no say. I would have thought that a leadership candidate would play to those whose vote counts rather than those watching from the sidelines. Perhaps this campaign is seen as a tryout for the coming general election.

I listened to countless phone calls on CBC Radio yesterday regarding this and I think the people who phoned in favor of it should be in the funny farm. What ever happened to logic? They think they are in ancient Rome or Greece and are waiting for a total collapse of society.
