Explosion At Local Pellet Plant

Prince George, B.C. - Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a reported explosion and structure fire at Pacific BioEnergy in the BCR site last night...

Assistant Fire Chief Blake King says five trucks from three halls responded to the call from the 99-hundred block of Willow Cale Road just before seven last night.

King says crews found numerous spot fires in and around the structure and heavy smoke.  He says there were no reported injuries, but the building and surround equipment received extensive damage from the dust explosion.

Fire damage to the structure was limited by the sprinkler system, which was activated by the blast.  Fire fighters remained on the scene for approximately four hours.

No damage estimate is available at this time.  And there is no word yet on the impact on production at the pellet plant.
