Winter Officially Arrives this Afternoon

Prince George, B.C.- Winter official arrives at 3:38 PST today.
The Winter solstice occurs exactly when the Earth's axial tilt is farthest away from the sun at its maximum of 23° 26'.
 
This is the shortest day of the year, with the longest night, and the sun’s position in the sky is the lowest of the year.
 
Environment Canada is predicting below normal temperatures through to the end of February for Prince George, Fort St. John and Quesnel. As for precipitation, Prince George and Quesnel are expected to get more than usual through to the end of February, while Fort St. John will have normal levels of precipitation.
