A "port of potential" is how the CEO of the Prince Rupert Container Port, Don Krusel, describes the pending facility set to establish a direct link to the Asian markets...

The expansion approval announced at the end of last month has ramifications for the entire northwest of the province, not the least of which is an expected inland container terminal in Prince George.

But is the community of Prince Rupert, itself, ready for the changes that will go hand-in-hand with the development?

In May of 2005, a Political Science class from UNBC studied the container port expansion during a week-long course in Prince Rupert.   A video documentary was produced from that class and presented by the UNBC Social Sciences Multimedia Research Lab.

The documentary attempts to answer, or at least flesh out, just how Prince Rupert will prepare for this transition to an economic hub.  To view the 26-minute piece, go to www.unbc.ca/ssrmlab/research/rupert/index.html
