Northern and Rural Tax Benefit This Year

Prince George, B.C.-  When you get your property tax notice later this spring, there will be  a new benefit.

This is the year, the B.C. Government's  Northern and Rural Homeowner benefit comes into  effect.  It  is in addition to the basic homeowner grant, for  which most   residential property owners qualify.

This provides a benefit of up to $200 for homeowners living outside the lower mainland or Victoria regions.

Is this to make us feel better about the increase in our income tax?
The government givith and the government taketh away. Mostly taketh away.
Don't tell the government, but I would have paid $200.00 not to have to live in Vancouver or Victoria.
Excellent! that should cancel out the HST, Carbon tax on fuel, the BC Rail scandal and the 30% increase in our hydro rates.

Ah,yes, they giveth and they taketh away, indeed. Just wait til you have to license your well, and then pay for all the water you use from it. That's next up on the 'global' agenda, as it's to be applied to BC. Along with the coming worldwide "Austerity" ~ you know, like where you pay as much, or probably more, but get less for it.
