Prince George, B.C. – The final numbers are in for the 2010 version of  Operation Red Nose as expected, the program topped all goals and previous records.

“We are ecstatic with the numbers” says Andrea Johnson,  spokesperson for Operation Red Nose.

The overall total for the program this holiday season   saw Operation Red Nose provide 1,123 rides, that’s 327 more than last year, and 123 more than their 1,000 ride goal.

On New Year’s Eve, 35 teams provided 273 safe rides home.   They drove 5,851 kilometres on that night alone. That’s more mileage than driving from Prince George to Halifax.

Johnson says the success of the program would not be possible without the help of all the volunteers. To say thank you, there will be a volunteer appreciation dinner this Saturday at the Operation Red Nose headquarters at ICBC.

Those who volunteered over the course of this year’s Operation Red Nose program who have yet to sign up for the appreciation night, can call Andrea at  250-961-0067 by Wednesday, Jan. 5.

Way to go guys and gals. You probably saved 100 impaired charges. 300 person days away from work, 3 to 5 people out of the hospital emergency rooms.

Thanks,
