Priestner Named Goalie of the Week

Prince George, BC -It's official, the Canadian Hockey League has selected Prince George Cougars' James Priestner as the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending January 2.
In two games Priestner recorded a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout win with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .956.
Priestner recorded his second shutout of the season last Wednesday night making 22 saves as second star of a 5-0 win over the Chilliwack Bruins. He then opened the New Year on Sunday with a 21-save performance as part of a 5-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors to lift the Cougars into top spot in the WHL’s B.C Division with 43 points.
Priestner, a 19-year-old from Edmonton, AB, is playing in his fourth WHL season and currently holds a 12-9-2-0 record and has already set a career-high with 646 saves so far this season.
Also considered for the award this week was Gabriel Girard of the Shawinigan Cataractes who earned two victories with a goals-against-average of 1.92 and save percentage of .945. Mavric Parks of the Saginaw Spirit was also strong in goal this week earning two wins in three starts including a 3-0 shutout win over the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors with 33 saves as first star of the game.
