Seatbelts a Life Saver in Tuesday Terrace Crash

Terrace, B.C.- Police continue to tinvestigate the two vehicle crash that happened on Tuesday east of Terrace on highway 16 (see previous story).
With more details released this morning, Police are saying a 64 year old woman from Terrace, was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries when her SUV collided with a 2003 Kenworth Tractor Trailer.
The highway conditions at the time of the crash, were slippery with sections described as slush covered. The temperature hovered around the freezing mark.
The semi was pulling two unloaded flat bed trailers at the time of the crash. The force of the impact resulted in the semi driving over an embankment.
The 64 year old female, who was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision, was removed from her vehicle by Fire Rescue , the driver of the semi, a 71 year old Smithers man, also wearing his seatbelt, was not injured in this collision.
Police continue to investigate this crash, however do not believe alcohol or speed played a role in this crash. POlice do want to remind the public that seatbelts save lives and prevent serious injuries.
