Highway 16 Still Not Back to Normal near New Hazelton
By 250 News
New Hazelton, B.C. – RCMP say road and weather conditions were a factor in a crash between a Greyhound bus and a transport truck Friday afternoon.
The bus and tractor trailer collided just west of Seeley Lake Provincial Park, but fortunately there were no serious injuries. Police say all eleven passengers and the driver of the bus were checked out by paramedics before being transported to the New Hazelton bus depot.
RCMP are still investigating. Highway 16 is expected to remain reduced to single lane alternating traffic for much of the evening.
The severe winter weather has caused road maintenance contractors in both the Terrace and Smithers area to issue severe winter driving advisories. Motorists are advised to avoid driving if possible due to the blowing snow and reduced visibility.
Frigid temperatures also forced the closure of ski operations at Shames Mountain near Terrace and Hudson Bay Mountain in Smithers.
The icy weather and blowing snow even hampered Canada Post mail delivery in Terrace Friday, prompting the corporation to ask residents to clear sidewalks, stairs, and mailboxes of snow prior to Monday.

It appears to be the norm for these contractors to wait until there is a high profile accident or something before they take action of any sort, sad but true.
They are lucky that there were no deaths in this incident.
