Prince George- Highway 97 north is expected to remain closed until at least Wednesday of this week as crews attempt to blast a snow slide that is preventing crews from cleaning up an earlier slide that has blocked the highway in both directions about 71 kilometres north of the junction of highway 39 to Mackenzie.

Maintenance officials are now saying that it is too dangerous to clear the slide and they will need a specially trained group who will dynamite the slide that is posing the problem, which will than allow the crews to begin to clear the stretch of road, which has received near record snow falls in the past few days.

It is not known if anyone was injured in the initial slide.

The highway blockage has resulted in many people being stranded on both sides of the slide.
