The original book  of minutes, shows the first entry from the first meeting in September of 1911.

Prince George, B.C.-  It isn't spring yet, but the Prince George Chamber of Commerce has been doing some cleaning, and has dusted off some special artifacts which it will donate to the Prince George Exploration Place Museum and Science Centre.

The Chamber is celebrating it's 100th birthday this year, and the artifacts to be handed over  as part of the celebrations include the original book of minutes recording the inception of the Prince George Board of Trade in September of 1911 (later renamed the Prince George Chamber of Commerce) and the general business and development of the City of Prince George.

"Organizations like the Prince George Chamber of Commerce are community-builders," says Tracy Calogheros, Executive Director of The Exploration Place Museum and Science Centre.  "Their early ledgers detail the amalgamation of the Georges', the businesses of early pioneers and the very foundation upon which our modern city is founded.  We are very excited to be able to help them celebrate their centennial and offer safe-keeping to these community treasures."

In addition to the  original book of minutes,  the  Chamber is donating photographs of people, places and events throughout the Chamber’s history; a large collection of Spruce Dollars and the original printing templates used to create them.
