Prince George, B.C.- The Joint Review Panel (the Panel) conducting the review of the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Project has released its Panel Session Results and Decision.
The Panel has decided additional information on the design and risk assessment of the proposed twin pipeline is needed. Once the Panel has that information, a Hearing Order will be issued.
The Panel has not yet identifies where hearings will take place other than to say the hearings will be “in proximity to the pipeline and marine components of the project.” The exact locations for hearings will be decided at a later date.
The Panel also decided to make changes to the draft list of issues about this project.
Three public panel sessions were conducted to come to this point in the review of the project. The sessions were held in Prince George, Kitimat and Whitecourt, Alberta.
The proposed Northern Gateway project involves the construction of two 1,170 kilometre long pipelines running from Bruderheim, Alberta to Kitimat, and the construction and operation of the Kitimat Marine Terminal. One pipeline will carry oil to the marine terminal where it would be loaded on to tankers for shipment to other markets, the other line would carry condensate back to Bruderheim Alberta.
