If this guy does not give a good reason to bring back the death penalty , then I do not know what is. As taxpayers we should be furious that we have to pay for people like him to live while their victims lives are over. And the pain the family will go through forever. Someone like him does not deserve to breathe the same air as the rest of us. I do not know his family , but I hear they are good people , and the pain he has caused them as well. It will cost tens of thousands a year to keep him in prison, and a rope is only a few bucks.
Our Bleeding Heart Liberal justice system will give this monster the protection "he deserves"! Hopefully he won't find a way to lessen the charge.
No punishment is enough for taking Loren.
Our Bleeding Heart Liberal/Conservative justice system!

Harper has reigned for 5 years - what has really changed, if anything?
Some family members of Loren's are praying for a swift legal procedure. That would mean a GUILTY PLEA so that hearts may start to mend. If you pray, please pray for this.
A guilty plea would be nice that's for sure. Especially for the family.

As for capital punishment, Harleyguy it costs more than a rope. Well documented fact that in the long run, due to appeals, etc., it costs US taxpayers up to five times more to execute a person than it is to keep them imprisoned for life.

And don't for a minute believe that the death sentence is a deterrent to crime. Simply not true.
Never said it is a deterrent , but there is a differance when someone plans to kill someone , or has intent to kill someone. In Canada it is near impossible to make a charge of first degree murder because it is hard to prove intent. In this particular case it appears the investigators have done that. Otherwise the charge of murder 1 would have been denied. The courts have also been satisfied with the evidence presented to them to this point to allow a charge of murder 1 . Even if it is the case it costs more for Capitol punishment, this guy still does not have the right to live on our dime. He gave that up the moment he did what he did. It is time to bring this country back to a time where justice serves the innocent and does not protect the guilty. Call me old fashioned , but I think that there is a large number who agree with me.
I wouldn't call you old fashioned. Something else perhaps, but not old fashioned.

Either way, the criminals live on our dime and if you for a minute think capitol punishment is going to be cheaper or somehow help you sleep better at night, well then, you can be old-fashioned all you want.

And let me say that I have utmost respect for the victims family here. They deserve to see justice served.

So now that we agree that this guy, if proven guilty, is a real dirt bag for his crime, what is the most cost efficient means of doling out his punishment that fits within the confines of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms? That same charter protects you and I as well, so where is the balance?
Murder is murder. Let him rot in gaol. he is not much use to us in the mainstream. If we can not have capital punishment for animals like him, than incarcerate him. No parole for good behaviour, his crime is inexcuseable.

We as Canadians need to say enough, we want a judicial system which is a deterent for criminals. We need more teeth in the system to stop these animals.

If the politicians don't start changing the laws, than the public will eventually take the law into their own hands, the police will turn a blind eye, and we have nothing. Do you hear this,,, hey I am talking to you, Useless Dick.
Exactly as I feel , I think we both just have different ways of expressing our opinions. I agree with what you said about the charter of rights , except may I point out how it really should have been said, and that is That same charter is supposed to protect you and I as well. While it is a whole other issue for most honest citizens , that charter is not followed. I am routinely treated as a scumbag criminal because of how I look . Most of the people who look at me ,including the Police judge me before they get to know me. But like I said whole other issue.
I'm sure we could pay Mexico $10,000.00 per year per inmate to look after our prisoners. They would come out ahead and so would we.

As far as capital punishment goes hanging is too quick and easy for scumbags like this. A bed of bamboo shoots sounds much more humane.
I actually like the way they used to do it in Mexico, and still do in some areas. When someone commits a crime like this, and gets caught the police find a member of the victims family, arrest him on a bogus charge and put him in jail for a few hours with the convict. After the bogus charge is dropped and he is released.
Hey HarleyGuy72,this sounds like a great idea, but what if the convict is actually tougher than the family member?Do the authorities send you in with a steel pipe and a taser?
HarelyGuy72 - Also what if you were wrongfully convicted. Happens all the time. Would you want to be locked in a cell with a father of a murdered girl when you were innocent. After all, everyone is innocent in jail, right?? Capital punishment is a huge step for us to become more like the US. Look what is happening down there. Overflowing jails, and people are on death row for years, buying time with appeal after appeal. Some people are on Death row for 20 years. Doesn't sound like a real cost saver to me.
Ah, the spectre of the "wrongfully convicted", what separates us from the animals. By all accounts, young Mr. Legebokow is GUILTY! Conviction by media coverage anyone? Well, would'nt all of us want to be given the fabled second chance" if we were actually innocent? The concept of wrongful conviction haunts our legal system, as well it should.
Mortal men tremble, while lawyers lick their lips. I am FOR capital punishment, but we all deserve our day in court. Tread softly, for it may be you who is judged.
metalman.
I heard in Guatemala and some eastern european countries let the victims family dish out the punishment. I may not have the stomach for punishment but i think if it was my daughter something would give if i was able to serve him my justice.
also 100% in agreament with you harleyguy,i think a couple hundred grains of nice hot lead, would be the perfect sentence for this good for nothing mofoe.the legal system is a f#kin joke,so i have my doubts if he gets the right punishment.
