Prince George, B.C. -  RCMP have released the identity of the man killed in a head-on collision between a tractor-trailer and a pick-up truck on Highway 97, between Quesnel and Williams Lake on Wednesday morning.

Police say 36-year-old Louis George Therrien of Terrace was a passenger in the southbound pick-up.  The jaws of life had to be used to extract the critically injured man.  He was transported to hospital in Williams Lake, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The RCMP's Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services and the B.C. Coroner's Service continues to investigate the fatal crash that occurred just south of the MacAlister overpass, when the northbound tractor-trailer unit crossed the centre line and struck the oncoming pick-up at approximately 7:30am Wednesday morning.

Sergeant RJ Verbree says the other people involved in the crash had minor or no injuries.  Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call the Williams Lake detachment at 250-392-6211 or Quesnel Traffic Services at 250-992-0505.
