Prince George, B.C. -  The Ministry of Environment has cancelled the air quality advisory for Prince George.

The advisory was issued mid-morning yesterday, due to a high level of particulates trapped in the airshed by a high-pressure weather ridge.

As of 8am this morning, the level of both fine and coarse particulates was well below the provincial objectives:

  •           The provincial air quality objective for fine particles, PM2.5, is 25 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 6 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site and 11 µg/m3 at College Heights at 8 am today.
  •             The provincial air quality objective for coarse particles, PM10, is 50 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 20 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown and 31 µg/m3 at College Heights and 41 µg/m3 at the BCR site at 8 am today.

All the pulpmills must have shutdown......oh wait nope they didn't! Maybe they just decided not to pollute as bad today!
just another wishy washy air fairies, making a call on the advisory.
What a bogus bylaw. They don't even have a fine for it. My neighbor burns 24/7/365.
He also has a relatively new gas furnace.
Choke--gasp---it's worse than tobacco.
