Prince George, B.C. -  School District 57's Board of Trustees has passed its amended budget for the current 2010-2011 school year...

Although trustees trimmed, cut and hammered out the budget last March - passing it in June - this evening's final document reflects the slightly adjusted numbers based on the number of full-time students actually enrolled at the end of September.

There are 13,815 full-time equivalent students this year, up 50 students over last year.

The District's total budget for the year is $127.7-million dollars, down from $129.3-million in 2009-2010.  Most of that difference - $1.4-million of the $1.6-million dollar reduction - came from cuts and reorganizations made at the staffing level, as decided during last spring's budget discussions.

The budget bylaw is finalized, just as trustees prepare to get down to the business of crunching numbers for next year.

Am I reading this right?, that of the $1.6 million in savings, $1.4 million was due to changing staffing levels so only $200 thousand was saved in closing all the schools?

Something does not add up there, I'm sure the SD were saying each school closure would save in the region of $200 - $300 thousand.
there was an increase in students. Hope this continues.
