Canfor Chief Executive Officer Jim Shepherd, says he is happy to work with David Emerson who crossed the floor to sit with the Conservatives and has been appointed Trade Minister in charge of the lumber tariff file.

Shepherd says, “If anyone knows the problems and the in and outs of the soft wood lumber dispute its David Emerson and he is definitely a good pick for that file.”.

All Canfor wants he said is “To get the matter resolved, we have now paid $733 million dollars (U.S.) in duties and we would like the matter resolved. We paid $34 million in the last quarter” he said “and what has saved us in the pulp business has been the fact that we have been paying less for our chips after coming on line with what other chip producers have been receiving”.

While it hasn’t been finalized, Shepherd says the government is expected to add two dollars per cubic meter to the cost of our raw logs

Being as Mr Emerson's hange of parties happening as it did, I find it very suspect. Could he still be a Lberal and pulling a fast one on the government. I also think Canfor has a fast sidestep move up their leg too.... They ought to be able to dance around rather well in my opinion.
