Prince George, B.C. - A home in the 42-hundred block has been cordoned off by Prince George RCMP after being riddled with bullets overnight - including one that went through a front window - in what appears to have been a targeted attack.
RCMP say the home is occupied, but no was was injured and investigators are still determining whether anyone was actually in the residence at the time of the shooting.
Media Liaison Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says the initial call of shots fired in the vicinity of 1st Avenue and Tabor Boulevard came into the detachment at 3:16am this morning. However, patrols of the area failed to turn up anything.
"Later this morning, once daylight arrived, police received another call advising that bullet holes were located on the outside of a residence," says Corporal Douglass. "On arrival, officers secured the residence and called the Forensics Identification Section and the Police Dog Service to assist in the investigation."
Douglass says the investigation is still in its early stages, "But, so far, it appears this was a targeted, drug-related incident. Although there is the likelihood that this is organized crime or gang-related - the use of guns and drugs being involved are the only indicator to us, at this point." Asked whether the occupants of the residence are being forthcoming with information, Douglass says, "We'll leave that to the investigators at this point, it's still pretty early in the investigation."
