Murder Investigators Look At PG Taxi Drivers

Prince George, B.C. -  The manager of Prince George Taxi says more than 140 local cab drivers have been questioned by RCMP in connection with the ongoing murder investigations of two women.

Sami Kuuluvainen says he believes all but two have provided provided DNA samples - and he says those two may have, in fact, done so - and it's his understanding they've all been cleared.

Kuuluvainen says he was contacted a few months ago by officers investigating the deaths of 35-year-old Cynthia Maas, who's body was found near LC Gunn Park this past fall, and 29-year-old Jill Stuchenko, her body was discovered in a gravel pit in October of 2009.

He says he handed over an employee list and, at first thought officers intended to contact just a few of PG Taxi's drivers, but they went through the entire list.  "To be honest, my gut feeling was that it was a total shot in the dark, I don't think they had anything to go on," says Kuuluvainen.  "I think they were looking for any information at all that would help them with their investigation."

The taxi cab company manager says he has no problem with helping the RCMP out.  He says he believes that, in fact, one of his female drivers transported one of the victims several days after she was last reported seen and that information was communicated to police.

Kuuluvainen says by the very nature of their job, taxi drivers are out and about and often observe situations, as a result.  He says his drivers are required to provide an annual criminal records check and he thinks that's a good thing, to ensure the public feels safe.

A call to the Prince George RCMP detachment for comment has been deferred to the RCMP's "E" Division Headquarters in Vancouver.

All or most have given DNA samples? Is this not a human rights violation, even if everyone volunteered to do so?

If someone was killed on a cruise ship, would all passengers be expected to have to give DNA samples if DNA evidence was known to have been left behind?

Sounds like a fishing expedition to me.
Taxinapothole, is there a reason you left for Alberta? ;-)
We have more and more cops being added to the police state in BC. Co's, Sherriffs, lets see - - - CN Rail cops maybe. .
supertech you forgot the CO's, fisheries officers and ICBC.
interceptor, be really careful what you say, 'cause I may come back and stick your face up your arse. You are an IDIOT!!
Totally uncalled for interceptor
interceptor only asked a question, i find taxinapothole's response totaly ver the top and unacceptable.

maybe all of PG should have to supply DNa, after all we all could have had access to these people...

unless they have something they arent telling us, and they could (in which case the following statement may not fit), it sounds like a fishing expedition to me...
Jeez guys - note the smiley face?
Tough crowd...
Gus:"If someone was killed on a cruise ship, would all passengers be expected to have to give DNA samples if DNA evidence was known to have been left behind?"

But if one of the 2,500 passengers had been murdered in a small bar on that same cruiseship and a surveillance video showed 6 staff members and 25 passengers IN that bar at the time of the murder it would NOT be unreasonable to ask those 25 passengers and the 6 crew members to give DNA samples.

Same with the taxi drivers here who might consider assisting the RCMP and society in tracking down a vicious murderer who needs to be locked up.

C'mon you guys, settle down. We don't need personal jibes and innuendo. This isn't the place for personal attacks. That mounts to bullying. The police are maybe getting desperate to find clues and this may be one place to look. Sometimes it is very hard to find evidence. I think they, in this attempt are really trying everything to pinpoint someone. If it would really turn out to be a taxi driver then lets get him out of that business. A lot of the taxi drivers have had to submit their fingerprints this year too, to renew their chauffeur's permits. What about that?
Sorry, I didn't see Taxi's comment it must have been deleted :) One back at ya
or Interceptor was just joking with Taxinapothole (both are well known commenter here ) who happens to drive a taxi ..and recently left the pg area to go to Alberta ... In light of this article ... I seen the humour in Interceptors cooment ... but i have a warped sense of humour
