Province Prepping for Big Birthday Bash

Wer are just two years away from B.C. being officially 150 years old, and the province is  getting set to  plan a big party.  

The Premier says that  within the next few weeks, his govenrment will appoint a new co-ordinating committee to lead planning for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the colony of British Columbia. 

The committee will work with the tourism industry, Spirit of BC Community Committees and other partners across the province to plan sesquicentennial events in 2008. 

The City of Prince George has landed one major event, the Seniors Games for 2008.  The games are expected to  be a significant draw for Prince George and  will play into the  Province's plan to double domestic tourism revenues by 2015.

Wonderful! Money that could help our seniors, children and sick is being spend on a party of sorts, so typical of our government. First the Olympics which is going into debt big time, and now this! When the need strikes closer to home then something will be done about the important things.
