Victoria - Premier Gordon Campbell made the following statement on the passing of former B.C. Attorney General Allan Williams:

"On behalf of all British Columbians, I want to express my condolences to Allan's family and friends.

"Allan was an MLA for West Vancouver from 1967 until the early 1980s, and as minister of labour, attorney general and minister responsible for native affairs, his dedication to serving the people of British Columbia was exemplary.

"His passion was to serve. Before entering the legislature, Allan served our country as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. He was also elected to the position of parks and recreation commissioner for West Vancouver before he was elected provincially.

"We are fortunate that Allan chose to share his talents with the people of British Columbia, and are grateful for his selflessness. His participation in our provincial life will be sorely missed."

How come he's still called the Premier, just what will Crispy Clark think?
One possilbe reason would be because he still is the premier.

The office does not transfer until the Honourable Steven Point says so.

It's a vestige of the Monarchy that still remains.

At least in Canada the wait is much shorter than it is in the States where the election for President is held in early November and the president elect does not become the President until late January. On top of that, the people really do not have the final say anyway, the ellectoral college does.
We no longer have politicains like Mr Williams. Its a sad day for all of British Columbia
Cheers
Williams was one of the last of the old school B.C. politicians, and one of the good ones.
There sure don't make them like that anymore!
My sincere condolences to the family.
