Prince Rupert, B.C. – Prince George was the final destination for a couple of stolen vehicles taken from Prince Rupert early Wednesday morning.

Mounties in the North Coast city were called out after two male suspects took off with a pair of pickups from a dealership sometime between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. Hours later, police received a call about a stolen ATV taken from a Prince Rupert home and a license plate missing from the back of a pickup.

Police had a clue about the direction of the thieves when they found one of the stolen pickups abandoned 50 km west of Terrace shortly before 1 p.m.

Later that day, a Prince George RCMP officer made a routine traffic stop in the downtown core. The vehicle in question matched the description of the other pickup taken from Prince Rupert and the ATV in the back matched the quad taken. The officer got confirmation when he ran the plate that was also stolen from Prince Rupert.

The driver of the truck fled the scene, but police managed to arrest the passenger.

Call police or Crimestoppers if you have any information about the thefts.
