Prince George- Police say they have received reports of an aggressive Moose in the Wilson Park area of the city.

Police say that several people have mentioned that the cow moose who is the mother of two, two year old calves has chased after people walking in the area in the past day.

Residents in the area are asked to not walk their dogs in the area to allow for the moose and her calves to not be disturbed.

Dog’s who are not on the leash that take after moose according to Ministry of Environment staff often provoke the Moose into charging the dog in order to protect their young and that often leads to confrontation with humans.

This same moose has been reported in the Westwood area of the city and also along the cut banks leading to UNBC.

"Mad Moose", Seems to be the Moose is not being aggressive, but being protective.

I think its the right of every mother to protect their youngs in which ever manner fit. Even if it means kicking in the heads of aggressive dogs! This ought to get a reaction
Good for the Moose.
I get mad at off leash dogs as well. The owners always seem to get mad when I kick their off leash dog. It's a mad, mad world.

Not to mention any dog caught chasing deer, moose, elk, etc is a dead dog in my book. When they are observed chasing game and the law permits the discharge of firearms, you'll hear the report of my firearm everytime!
I think the moose is mad because it misread the WILSON park sign for WILKINS park and thought it was going to be safe from those ankle biters.
Dragonmaster,I don't think you should be threatening to shoot peoples dogs,as it is against the law unless you are protecting your property or yourself, and wild game does not belong to you.I make every attempt to restrain my dog and not allow it to chase wild game as it is against the law, but sometimes the dog is reacting in that it thinks it has to protect its owner. My dog is generally afraid of moose because of there size, and is a fairly smart dog in the bush as he wants nothing to do with cougars or bears. We have been in areas where you can tell he doesn't want to be their, only to find out later a cougar had been sighted in the area.My motto is to leave the wild game alone and they won't bother you!
My ex never did like dogs but she does have the right to walk in the park with the kids.
yep, you bet one has the right to walk in the park. But if you walk past a do not enter sign, because of large animals on site. Well, I guess Darwin was right.

I have always said you have rights, but you might end up dead by proving that you are right.
The moose does not have to loose, all Danny Boy has to do is figure out how to tax her.
I love some people ,I walk my dog off leash in the middle of an open field away from other people so as to not disturb anyone then some dog hater comes into a dog park in the middle of an open field and bitches because my dogs are off leash. heres a thought don't like off leash dogs? then don't hang out in dog parks, go to the mall. get a grip.
Better read up on the benefits of fat from pork, promotes memory retention. Everything in moderation. Moose ugly? Not
too many other animals can move as quickly & gracefully, if you have ever seen one up
close they are quite a beautiful dignified
animal. Everyones idea of beauty differs.
One observation. What if this had been a mother bear (grizzly or black) with cubs?
So how come mama moose gets a free pass while mama bear and her cubs will get blown into the next world.

Moose meat, free range and organic, whats not to like.
jakeadoo, you better read up on the law. If your mutt chases game, it is fair game for the crosshairs. Don't want to have your dog shot? Don't let it get caught chasing game in an area where the discharge of firearms is permitted.
Dragonmaster

So you shoot dogs eh?

Hmmmmmmm........

Could you be a person of interest?
Anyone shoots my dog they had better vacate the area immediately,or someone else will have to phone 911 for the police and the ambulance.I already said dragonmaster I don't let my dog chase wild game. You're the exact reason why society shouldn't allow idiots to have firearms!
Hats off to jakeadoo...

Dragonmaster it makes me cringe knowing that you sound "quick" to shoot a dog. Does that suggest you already have?

WOW... a DECENT person would track down the owner and ask him to keep his dog at home. It's not the dogs fault that he's away from home... it's the owners fault.

OMG...

Dragonmaster PLEASE don't go shooting the neighbours now... that's NOT what I was getting at?

Talk to them instead... just talk to them.

I've heard that dogs run at the SOUND of a gun going off so why shoot em?

Is it because you MAY be a bully...? I'm not saying you are... I'm asking.
Newtechguy, you may be on to something!
newtechguy, just say no to drugs. You don't have a clue what you're talking about. However, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot any dog I see chasing Deer, Moose or Elk as long as it occurs in an area where the discharge of firearms is permitted. That is a legal action anyone following the law can take upon themselves, and (should) if witnessing such a thing. You don't like it? To frikken bad, you lose!

I have yet to come across this type of situation in the past but make no mistake, I will shoot your dog where it is legal to do so if it is observed chasing game. I will shoot my own dog for the same thing so don't think your dogs are special.

I see jakeadoo is uttering threats of violence against humans. You're saying it's ok to hurt or kill a human for putting down someones game chasing mutt. Apparently you are the one with issues here. Hey jake buddy did you read somewhere that I said you let your dogs chase game? Idiot!

Its really amazing how you people assume things about others you don't know and how when you are given facts you change the subject trying to make others look guilty of something they haven't done. You should all go back to the city where you came from.

I'm heading north next week on a little hunting trip. Going to thin out the dog population around some friends cattle and Bison ranches in the Peace country. The last fur auction was fetching $50 for a clean pelt. Calving season provides for good calling and shooting oportunuties. I will post pictures of my success upon my return. :-)
