Prince George, B.C. - Clearwater RCMP discovered three seperate buildings being used to grow marijuana plants while executing a search warrant on a rural residence off Highway 5, north of that community, this week.

Corporal Chris Newel says police seized almost 2500 plants at various stages of growth, along with 40-pounds of marijuana bud from the property, located approximately 65-kilometres north of Clearwater, near Avola.  The officer says plants were growing in two of the buildings, while the third structure was devoted to drying and processing the bud.

RCMP also seized a number of items as offence-related property, including a Ford F350 pick-up truck, a Polaris recreation utility vehicle, and a large generator.  Corporal Newel says the generator was being housed in a five-tonne single-axle delivery-type truck, along with a bulk fuel tank.  A second generator was on-site.

A 36-year-old man was arrested during the raid.  He will appear in court in Clearwater in June to face charges of production of a controlled substance ad possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Will the judge give him a break because he wasn't stealing hydro?

They actually stole the listed items. Even if the guy is guilty, he hasn't been convicted. The items should remain in his possession until he is convicted and the court orders them seized. I believe he has rights contrary to the actions of the RCMP.
