Stoney Creek- An 18 year old from Stoney Creek is in hospital in Prince George in critical condition after he was beaten by another group of youths on the Stoney Creek Reserve Friday night.
While details remain sketchy, Brandon Fleur was beaten following a party at the reserve.
It is alleged four youths, aged 19 and under, used a baseball bat and boots to strike the young man.
He is in hospital in Prince George as medical authorities continue to examine him to determine whether he should be transferred to Vancouver.
It is believed that he suffered some bleeding to the brain as a result of either a boot blow or a hit with a baseball bat.
Two residents of Saik’uz have organized a meeting at the band office to protest what has been happening. The meeting will take place between 11am and 2 pm Sunday.
Here is the message that they posted on Face Book;
Hi all, myself and a few others are planning a rally against the violence that has been occurring in Saik'uz. On Friday night, a teenage boy was badly beaten with a bat. He is currently in critical condition. And recently there have been other occurrences by these same individuals who committed this violent attack. We need to express our concerns to the chief and council before someone else gets hurt or even killed. The only way we can make this work is if we have a whole bunch of us show up and that way the band knows the severity of the crimes going on and how concerned we, as band members, really are. Why should we let our children and youth be scared of these individuals when they shouldn't have fear of our own people? Please support us in this very important rally against violence!!! Please forward.....
