Prince George, B.C. – B.C. Hydro will have a team in Prince George this evening to hear your thoughts on the future of electricity   needs and supply in the province.

A three hour open house has been set to take place at the Ramada Hotel, starting at 6:00, is one of a dozen such open houses being held throughout the province through to April 7th.

The topic of discussion will be the Integrated Resource Plan, a plan  which sets out conservation options, electricity generation options, long range transmission options, impacts of electrification (such as we are seeing in the auto industry as vehicles move away from fossil fuels) and the potential market opportunities to export power.

The input will be considered as BC Hydro develops its initial draft IRP. Then, further public consultation will be held this fall with the report submitted to the Province by early December.

Conservation Option ? I know one, how about thousends of Apartments heated by Hydro, everyone got a Gasline going by outfront ,that would be a huge Savings in KWH if you change over to Gas, but Hydro has the Answer raise the Cost per Kwh to all.
Here is some information on how the fat cats are picking your pocket.

Yes sir, in true political fashion, you ask for input from the masses and then do as you damn well please anyway.
Anyone have any information on the windfarm near Dawson Creek, output in relation to installed name plate capacity?
Like oldun says, Hydro is going through the motions on this.
They WILL be raising the rates, the excuses given (aging infrastructure, blah, blah) are all they really need, this open house is just window dressing. And Site C will ruin a whole bunch more good land, but it's still better than coal or NG fired power generation like our neighbors in Alta. have.
I see censorship is hard at work....
okay censor.... i take you to task...prove me wron on what I wrote, or what I said was anything but the truth or stated as my opinion and I'll leave here forever...else put my comments back.
In my opinion Hydro needs to fire the person, I believe incompetant they have running this operation.
What other business does not have to set aside funds to maintain their operations and upgrades and eventual replacement of equiptment.
Apparently not hydro.....
they just up our rates and we pay for their incompetance.
I have followed all of their suggestions to cut my electricity usage and rates only to have them say or good job but now we aren't amking any money so we are raising your rates... mine just went up almost 25% from last year... so be prepared people.... it is happening when they said it was going up 50%....
