East bound traffic on Highway 16  pulls over to wait out  highway closure

Prince George, B.C.- Highway 16  East remains closed  in both directions 3km east of Slim Creek.

The highway has been closed since a tanker  truck, carrying propoane, rolled  off the highway and exploded  Tuesday night.  The  first tank  in the B-Train was being allowed to burn off.

The driver of the truck escaped with minor injuries.

Meantime,  east bound traffic is being stopped at the Old Cariboo Highway and Highway 16  and being told that while there is a detour in place, it will add 6 hours to the travel time.  Many truckers were parking their rigs along the highway last night,  opting to wait it out.

There will be an update on the status of the highway   around 10:00 this morning.
