Milling through the memories at the Roll-A-Dome
Prince George, B.C. - Precious treasures from days gone by are on display and for sale at the Prince George Hospice's Society's Antique Fair this weekend...
Hospice Volunteer, Cecile Girard, says more than 30 vendors have their wares carefully laid out on 100 tables at the Roll-A-Dome. All money raised from admission and a donation box will go towards supporting the Hospice Society.
This is Girard's fourth year of volunteering at the sale and she says the event just keeps getting bigger and better every year. In fact, she's encouraging anyone interested in booking a table for next year to do so soon.
John Gall is one of the many repeat vendors at this weekend's fair. Gall repairs and restores clocks and has many beautiful pieces on-hand.
He says what started as a hobby 71 years ago when he was a 10-year-old boy, was supposed to finish as a hobby, but the Wells, B.C. resident says it's still much more than that - Gall continues to receive clocks from across the country for repair.
Angela Horne (at left in photo, with Courtney Erickson) says her mom was a collector and her interest grew from there.
Horne began collecting original Josef figurines several years ago. She says the creators, an American couple, Muriel and George Josef, started out making figurines in their basement in the 1940s and 50s. Her favourites are the small 'Birthstone Girls' shown at front in picture.
The Antique Fair runs from 10am untio 4pm today.
