Prince George, B.C. -  The five candidates in the BC NDP leadership race will face off in Prince George this evening in a debate focusing on energy.

Tonight's event is the 8th of 9 planned leadership debates that have occurred around the province since March 20th.  The final themed debate, on jobs, will be held in Terrace on Wednesday evening.

Adrian Dix, Mike Farnworth, John Horgan, Dana Larson and Nicholas Simons are all vying to replace Carole James, who resigned from the helm of the party last fall.

The election for the new leader is April 17th, but advance polling begins one week from today.

Tonight's 'sparring match' will take place at the Coast Inn of the North.  It is free and runs from 7pm until 9pm.  Doors open at 6:30pm.

Not much interest here. Wonder if anyone will show up?
what do you have when a housewife, fat lazy union rep, unemployed person, school teacher and a student get to gether for a coffee and a chat?????? an NDP leadership debate.
I find the above comment extremely offensive, sexist and inappropriate. Hopefully someone who moderates this website will doing something about it.
a spade is a spade. Political correectness has gone too far. Grow thicker skin.
this is far beyond political correctness. People shouldnt be discriminated against because of their sex, weight, choice of career, or because they choose to stay home and raise their children.....I dont want a thick skin...i'd rather be thin skinned and know whats right and wrong
Well hopefully "rattyboy" don't show up and embarrass the city by sharing all his wisdom.
Indeed, discrimination is wrong. I ask though, is it discriminitory to state an accupation or lack thereof, to note an attribute such as gender?

As far as I am concerned. PC is an effort to address discrimination, not to paint the world biege.

Perhaps rattyboy (the name says a lot) could have used more socially acceptable terms, but he only noted attributes of the participants. He did not say anything really derogatory other than a non-union persons opinion of union members.
