Prince George, B.C.- The final plan for Duchess Park will be presented to Prince George City Council this evening.
The plan for the 3.91 hectare park in the Crescents neighbourhood, calls for a phased in approach of the different elements included in the plan.
The overall project is expected to cost $2.7 million dollars, of which nearly half would be required for the development of an “all weather” field. The plan calls for the park to be developed in phases as funding sources are identified, and funding becomes available.
The plan calls for :
• Trail System
• A synthetic All Weather Field that would include provisions for an American sized football field and overlapping national sized soccer field.
• Amphitheatre
• Accessible Playground
• Mini Bike Park
• The Picnic Area
• The Fenced Dog
• The Multi‐Purpose Courts
The property was acquired by the City through an agreement with School District No. 57 and the Province. Through this partnership, the City would develop the former school site as a community park and transfer the lands at Alward Neighbourhood Park to the Canadian Cancer Society for the Kordyban Care Lodge.
