Fire Causes $10,000 Dollars Damage To PG Home

Prince George- Damage is estimated at about $10,000 dollars in a fire in the 700 block of Hamilton St. at 1.30pm. Today.
 
Seventeen fire fighters from three halls were called out to a structure fire.
 
On arriving at the scene they discovered a sundeck on fire at the rear of the home.
 
The fire had been all but been contained by the home owner with a garden hose.
 
The cause of the fire was the result of smouldering wood chips that were put into a plastic bucket on the sundeck.

Have seen this type of carelessness before. A number of years ago in Kelowna a neighbour cleaned out the fireplace, put the ashes in a paper bag and tossed them out under the deck. Six hours later at 3 in the morning my dad smelled smoke, looked out the back door and saw the neighbours house on fire.
To make a long story short we saved 12 people from possible death and also put out the fire with a garden hose. 4 people went to hospital with smoke inhalation.

People need to remember common sense when dealing with fire!
The idiot should have to pay for the cost of the fire fighters coming
Thats just fine opion1, until you screw up and need help. Huh! I think as a taxpayer he already does pay.
