Prince George, B.C.- On April 1st, 2011, members of the Prince George RCMP's General Duty Section executed two search warrants on the 500 block of Alward Street in Prince George.  The warrants were a result of a marijuana grow-op investigation on adjoining halves of a duplex.

Initially, investigators were able to determine that a marijuana grow operation existed in one half of the duplex.  A search warrant was obtained and executed.  308 marijuana plants and 45 pounds of dried marijuana were located in this half.

While executing the first warrant, the investigators located a 'home made' doorway to the other half of the duplex which revealed more marijuana plants.

Two valid Health Canada marijuana grow permits existed for the second half of the duplex, but far more plants were being produced than allowed.  A second search warrant was obtained for the other half of the duplex.  A total of 216 plants were located on this half of the duplex.  The Health Canada permits were for 49 plants and 73 plants, for a total of 122 plants.  The excess 90 plants were removed by police.

Charges of Production of a Controlled Substance are being recommended against a 20 year old female and a 32 year old male.

If you have any information about this or any other Criminal offence, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-TIPS (8477).

this is off topic:

We found a basset hound pure (or nearly) at the Treasure Cove casino and hotel and he really would like to go home! I would hope that the power of social networking will extend to helping a good dog go home ^^. He'll be going to the SPCA today or tomorrow, so please pass the word around now!

This is a friend that found it (and post this on facebook). Anyone lost this dog?????
PLEASE DON'T TAKE HIM TO THE SPCA!! the SPCA I do believe is still under quarantine for Parvo. If you can't keep him until his owner is found please contact Opinion 250 and ask them to contact me, I would be happy to give him a home until his people are found.
As for the news story....
It is really a shame that some people's greed casts a blight on the medical marijuana program with Health Canada.
Can you imagine; the government actually allows legal cultivation of an illegal substance, in limited quantities, for qualified persons, unreal! and wonderful! That is quite a breakthrough, that is no doubt in danger of being cancelled, if too many greedy morons and du-masses abuse the system. If that were to happen, a lot of deserving people for whom pot is of a real relief from the symptoms of disease will be left holding the (empty) bag.
metalman.
the person who found the dog will keep it until the owner is found or the quarantine is over, whatever comes first.
This story is a real cry'in shame. On the one hand the govmint issues a licence to grow, then some idiot has to screw it up, leaving the police to suspect others. Like you say Metalman, greed grows goofs.
Mounties gotta be shaking their heads at this bonehead.
Hey, Mounties, carry on, yer doi'n a good job. Stay safe.
so what they only took the plants that were over there limit? i bet there sleeping tight these days knowing that every gang member in town knows theres 125 plants and 45 pounds of marijuana on the 500 block of alward
Good point James. Why wouldn`t the police take all of the marijuana and revoke their permit? Stupid on their part to announce it on the news.
On the other hand, maybe the police did that on purpose to teach them a lesson.
