Constable Paul Koester has been identified as the police officer who took Ian Bush into custody in Houston the night Ian died.

Bush was shoot to death by a single bullet to the back of the head on October 29-2005 after being taken into custody as he returned to a hockey game at the local arena in Houston.

According to information being released ,Const. Koester took Bush into the interview room but did not turn on the video surveillance equipment. In a later conversation with police, Bush’s mother Linda Patrick, was told the officer in question said he did not turn the video monitor on because he felt the matter was very routine.

Koester was removed from active duty in Houston following the shooting.  His present whereabouts and his position with the force at this time are not known. Police thus far have not responded to requests for further information.

Linda Patrick says "In other cases it has taken more than a year for the police to conduct an investigation and I don’t believe that it should take that long."

Meanwhile the BC Civil Liberties Association has filed a complaint with the Commission for Public Complaints into the death of Kevin St. Arnaud who died while being pursed by police in a field near Vanderhoof in December 2004.

I heard on the news today some guy on drugs was packing two machetes and the police arrested him with no shots fired.I don't get what makes these two guys mentioned in this article more of a threat?
I hope justice is served, and soon. So the boys family and friends can finally rest and find peace!

God Bless all of them...this is so tragic and did not need to happen.
