Dix Versus Clark - Take Off the Gloves

While the hierarchy of the NDP may not want to admit it, make no mistake , the fact that Adrian Dix won the NDP leadership contest can be traced back to his support for Carole James, who was unceremoniously dumped by the party late last fall.
Dix had rushed to James' side when the baker’s dozen surfaced, knives in hand, and the rank and file of the party have never forgotten the move.
Dix will find it necessary to keep all of the dissidents in the fold, just as Christy Clark on the opposite side of the house has done in the Liberal Party.
There is an old saying in politics, you don’t have to like who you’re working with, just make sure you create the right facial expression.
How Dix will fare in a general election against Christy Clark will be an interesting exercise.
Clark leans more to the left than her predecessor and so does Dix. James had attracted a large following by staying to the center of the political spectrum, Dix is sure to not take that approach.
Dix’s mentor was none other than Glen Clark, and so in any election we can expect to see the gloves come off.
But the wind blows both ways and Clark (Christy) has also not been the type of person who will shy away from some good old mudslinging.
The provincial election may end up being the highlight of our election year.
I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.
