Inquest into Buick Creek Police Fatal Shooting Set

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - The inquest into the death of Mr. Valeri George has been scheduled.

George was shot during an incident with the RCMP's North Division Emergency Response Team. Despite medical treatment, he died Sept. 30, 2009, in Buick Creek.

The inquest is scheduled for Aug. 29-Sept. 2, 2011. Presiding Coroner Rodrick MacKenzie and a jury will publicly hear evidence from subpoenaed witnesses in order to determine the facts surrounding the death. The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances in the future.

The inquest will  take place at the B.C. Supreme Court in FOrt St. John
