That's a question Prince George-Omenica MLA John Rustad will be putting to area ranchers in Vanderhoof this afternoon as he sits down for a roundtable discussion.
"We're having a discussion around the capacity of our ranching industry and whether or not there's ability and desire to consider expanding it, given the mountain pine beetle in the area that might be available (for ranching)."
Rustad says it's too early to have a general sense of how the ranchers feel about the possibility, but he says their interest has definitely been piqued.
"When I suggested the idea of having a roundtable to talk about the potential, there was a lot of excitement, there was a lot of interest to sit down and say, 'Okay, let's do a little blue-skying, let's see what kind of possibilities are out there.'"
Rustad says he'll take the ideas generated back to Agriculture Minister Pat Bell for further discussion.

besides, if ranching the buggers will get them under control, we won't have to rely on the weather anymore.....
