BC Hydro's workers, who are members of  the Canadian Office and Professional Employees union  (COPE), will  vote over the next two weeks on a tentative agreement with their employer.

This is the first tentative deal to be negotiated under the Province's plan which offered bonuses for signing early and for signing long term.

Finance Minister Carole Taylor is happy with the agreement “I am pleased negotiators at BC Hydro have been successful in reaching a tentative agreement with COPE members, almost one month ahead of the March 31, 2006 expiry of the current collective agreement.”

Energy and Mines Minister Richard Neufeld says details of the tentative agreement cannot be released at this time, "I can confirm it is within the negotiating framework mandate."

The Province faces contract negotiations with 90% of the public sector this year.
