At a time when Prince George is looking for opportunities to diversify its economy, there is word of a specialized job fair.

The Mining Rocks - Career and Job Opportunities Tour 2006  will stop in Prince George, March 9 at the Days Inn.  The job fair will visit several communities over the next month.

The provincially-sponsored mining career fair is designed to help meet the increasing demand for workers to fill both short and long-term job openings in this high-paying field.

"Spending on mining exploration alone was $220 million in 2005 - more than seven times what was being spent just four years ago," said Prince George North MLA Pat Bell. "That incredible growth means the industry is going to need more and more workers and we want to help ensure that there are people in place to meet the demand."

Currently, B.C.'s mining sector employs 25,000 people in over 50 communities.

The Prince George fair will have information on job opportunities and career options in the mineral exploration and mining industries.

In Prince Geoge, the fair will run from  10 a.m till 2p.m.
