Regional District Directors Say Yes to Allowance

Directors on the Board of the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George have voted unanimously in favour of a new "technology allowance" for themselves. 

If a Director wants to receive the $75 dollar a month allownance, he or she must fill out an application. 

While the Regional District says it is an expense allowance to cover costs of technological needs of directors (cell phones, computers and the like) no receipts are needed and Revenue Canada has already advised it will be treated as a taxable benefit. 

If a director receives the allowance for a full year, it would be similar to receiving a 10 percent hike in their annual salary.
