The Prince George man plans to unfurl a five-metre long banner at the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and spend the day collecting messages of support for his son and others over in Afghanistan.
Gauthier's son, Ryan Zwicker, has been in Kandahar with the Canadian military since last month and is scheduled to remain in the troubled and turbulent country until August. (read previous story)
Gauthier plans to meet Zwicker during a furlong in London early next month and will hand-deliver the banner. He had dozens of people drop by the Legion last Friday and took it to Quesnel over that weekend to allow family members to jot down their best wishes.
Gauthier will be at the Legion between 1pm and 8:30pm today.
