The Province is  putting up nearly a million  dollars ($972 thousand) for UNBC to buy a building in downtown Terrace to become  the new home for its Terrace campus.

The building at 4837 Keith Aveneye will be renovated to accommodate teaching and research labs, and will have nteractive links to five other UNBC campuses, library services, a computer lab, a student lounge, and offices for faculty, administration and graduate students.   In all it will triple the Terrace campus size.

UNBC currently offers a wide range of courses in Terrace, including education, nursing, psychology, social work, anthropology, English, geography, history and First Nations studies. The nursing program began this year in conjunction with Northwest Community College, where students take their first two years before transferring to UNBC to complete their degrees.

Renovations are expected to start this summer and the new campus should be ready  sometime this fall.
