Local Egg Producer Sells

Veekens Eggs Ltd. has reportedly been sold to a lower mainland company.

Veekens had been one of the few remaining egg producers with a quota outside of the Fraser Valley. The reported sale price was $8.3 million dollars.

Back in the seventies the company had fought hard to retain its egg quota through the marketing board when the industry was moving toward more concentration in the Fraser Valley.

Information as to whether the sale will mean the influx of more eggs from the producers in the Fraser Valley to fill the gap is not immediately known.

sorry to see a local business go, but good luck to all owners and employees of Veeken's . . . you've been a community staple for many years!
I wish them well also. I do wonder though why everything of value that we have has to go south.
